Wondering what horror soundtracks you can buy to give your home that particular horror atmosphere?
Then read on...

This piece was sent to us by a great guy by the name of William Connolly, cheers!

MANIAC: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: JAY CHATTAWAY
Here is the re-mastered score to the 1980 slasher gore fest Maniac. The packaging is superior, I don't think you'll see a better one for a soundtrack. 24 tracks of eerie synths and sound effects, even sound bites of the maniac himself talking to his inner voices. In addition to the great score you can pop this sucker in your PC and have access to over 600 stills from the film, bios, soundbites, trailers, deleted scenes and much more.
...E TU VIVRAI NEL TERRORE: Various Artists
A double cd featuring such bands and artist as DEATH SS, AL FESTA, CLAUDIO SIMONETTI, BEVIS FROND, SUN DIAL, HUMUS, ARS NOVA, MALOMBRA, IL SEGNO EL COMMANDO and plenty more (almost 30 altogether) paying tribute to Italian horror cinema and TV and directors MARIO BAVA, DARIO ARGENTO, LUCIO FULCI and others. These are not cover songs, but new compositions. Disc two seems to contain the stronger tracks and is my favorite. Overall this is a great cd for horror fans to seek out. Included with the cds are an 80 page book detailing the growth of the Italian horror cinema, a look at music in horror films, a section of recommended movies from MARIO BAVA, LUCIO FULCI, recommended ITALIAN GOTHIC and THRILLER MOVIES from 1957-1983, a huge index to the bands and artists on the double cd and a prologue from ANTONELLA FULCI, DARIO ARGENTO and LUIGI COZZI.
MORTE MACABRE: SYMPHONIC HOLOCAUST
This Swedish progressive rock group is just arresting with their renditions of the themes from CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE BEYOND, ROSEMARY'S BABY, BEYOND THE DARKNESS and GOLDEN GIRLS. Still totally faithful to the orginals but modernized with their own style. There's also two originals on here one being over 17 mintues long. Buy!!!
FOR LUCIO FULCI "A SYMPHONY OF FEAR": Various Artists
This is one that Blackest Heart and Graveside Entertainment have been promising for a couple of years now. Finally, my copy is in hand. I'm impressed, it looks and sounds great. I think I only disliked about 3 tracks on here. GWAR, AL FESTA, JAMES MURPHY, ANOTHER DEAD JUNKIE, STILL SAD, NILE, CARFAX, SORRY, MARCO WERBA, ON/OFF and a few others were the standouts for me. What's cool about the music on this cd is that even if you don't like say GWAR, for instance, their track is so totally removed from the style of music they normally do that you forget who's covering what and enjoy the music anyway.
NOTTURNO: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Goblin
I have yet to see the film but this complete edition re-issue with 14 tracks and over an hour's worth of music with 7 never before released tracks from GOBLIN is a worthwhile buy. The thing I found interesting about Goblin's score for this flick is that a lot of the music is almost ambient. Hey, it's very cool stuff though. Nice full color booklet with photos and a brief plot description of Notturno.
THE HORROR FILMS COLLECTION: VOLUME TWO
Classic Italian Sountracks featuring music composed by PIERO PICCIONI, CLAUDIO SIMONETTI, MANUEL DE SICA, ALESSANDRO ALESSANDRONI, FRANCESCO DE MASI and others for such films as: AN OPEN TOMB...AN EMPTY COFFIN, LADY FRANKENSTEIN, THE VIENNA STRANGLER, SEVEN SHAWLS OF YELLOW, THE NEW YORK RIPPER, CINQUEST, DEMON, YOU'LL DIE AT MIDNIGHT and others. Full color fold-out inside with an introduction from TIM LUCAS (VIDEO WATCHDOG) and stills from the films. This is fine compilation for fans that don't have, can't find or can't afford the full length cd of each film.
ROSEMARY'S BABY-SOUNDTRACK LP
I couldn't believe that Paramount pics reissued this soundtrack and on LP no less. I think everyone knows this popular Roman Polanski occult horror flick? Remember Mia Farrow gives birth to the Anti-Christ? Anyway, this review is on the soundtrack. I really like the majority of the songs, all being under 3 mintues in length. Styles range from orchestrated, loungy jazz to kooky late 60's pop songs and some experimental stuff that can be heard during the Satanic Rite part of the film.
ANDY WARHOL'S DRACULA AND FRANKENSTEIN - CD SOUNDTRACK
Claudio Gizzi composes the music to these sick gory takes on Dracula (aka Blood for Dracula) and Frankenstein (aka Flesh for Frankenstein). Actually, Paul Morrissey is the man responsible for making these pictures, Andy Warhol did jack! A total of 32 tracks in all. All the music sounds orchestraded with some somber piano interludes. Too bad no film samples. Most will find this boring, true, but Claudio Gizzi is no Morricone. I can enjoy this in small doses though.
