None So Vile

None So Vile

It's quite rare that I actually find out about another quality horror zine; Firelight Shocks was originally started up after all from a lack of good fan-based publications. None So Vile is therefore a pleasant surprise; it's well written, packed with reviews, and has a good mix of interesting articles. In addition, it's HUGE - 60 A4 pages!

The editor is Kim Dubuisson (aka ARC-VILE) who is also responsible for the Gorezone site, and he's put together a second issue that's got just so many good pieces. He talks to the director and producer of Subconscious Cruelty, the director of Nutbag, and I particularly liked the interview with the director of Kolobos - I thought I was the only person who cared! A nice touch is also the featuring of articles that don't just stick within the boundaries of the genre; there are also some interesting discussions of hyper realism films (including the amazing Run Lola Run), Memento and odd and offensive comic strips. Still not too sure about the four page tribute to Ilsa though!

As Firelight Shocks is put onto a haitus indefinitely, it's good to know that there are other fantastic zines out there written directly for and by the real fans. Get yourself a copy now!
