Our Songs...

What do we sound like? Well, if you've had a look at the press release bit, then you'll already know..."A cross between Pavement and The Super Furry Animals with a hint of Sonic Youth, The Pixies and Hefner". Allegedly. So I won't explain that again.

But here are our songs, and what they're about, according to Phil. The page is based around one of our set lists, tastefully written on the back of a beermat...

1. The Italian Job (Il Italiano Lavoro)

Per la mia bambina italiana. Ma non capisco il parole.

2. The Punky Song (Turning The Page)

About a freshly reopened scar that's going to take a long time to heal.

3. 6 Days

Away from my friends, I'm just counting the hours until I can return. Only gin and my guitar make it bearable.

4. Viva Americana

Not a true version of my feelings of the big island across the atlantic, but a very biased view that filters through to England every day. I'm listening to the American scream.

5. Domestic-Sized

Standing in a nightclub, an argument starts. I get an idea. This starts another argument.

6. Used To Love Her

Back when Guns N' Roses were good, they recorded this. And then went downhill fast.

7. Here

A great Pavement song. Also one of the few that isn't that hard to play...

8. French Suspense

Named after 'The French Suspense Film' chord, it's about Mexico, not France. And a girl called Carolina.

9. P. Bass (Do Something)

A reminder to people past and present that life's like a cardboard box; you have to put things into it if you want to get things out of it.

10. The Sound Of Pumpkins Being Smashed

Does the title say it all? Our epic song, placed at the end of the set as we can play it for as long as we need to in order to fill up the rest of the time...

X. Domesticity

The last song of the summer, and based around a great poem of the same name by Helen Clark, who will one day be poet laureate.

X. Wave Of Mutilation

One of the Pixies finest moments, this got dropped from the set because it kept going horribly wrong.

X. Craig's E Song (Don't Leave Smiling)

Never actually played live, this was one of the early ones that featured Phil on bass, and Craig on guitar and backing vocals. It's about the comforts to be found in flying.
(except it now has been played live! and we messed it up big style...)

X. Zombie Cake

This was in part about Phil's favourite cake which Sainsbury's withdrew from its shelves, presumably because it was a health hazard.
Nigel now claims to know nothing of Zombie Cake.

X. eXplode from happiness

It's five o'clock and I'm free. Although I'm not that hungry, so you can keep the pizzas.

X. Accident Scenes

Please save me. I need you to leave, or at the very least to stay. I don't know what I can do without my ghost of the smoke...

X. Emu-core

Asking that same old question - is desire reciprocated? In this case, by the way, the answer was yes.
